NutriSystem®'s monthly program includes 28 breakfast, lunches, desserts and dinners.

The concept behind NutriSystem® is that diet food they ship will contain "good carbohydrates". What this means is that the overall meal plan is based on a low glycemic index, with a greater focus on complex carbohydrates. The low glycemic carbohydrates in the NutriSystem® foods should break down more slowly and stay in your system longer. The plan was designed so that you will remain feeling full longer and not gain additional weight in the future.

If you are an,”on the go” person – you know that planning and preparing diet foods, in the proper amounts can be time-consuming, for example as in (the South Beach Diet). The prepackaged meals, of the system replace most of the regular food you might buy. You will still supply the fruit, milk and vegetables. NutriSystem® also sells vitamins and protein products to supplement their diet program. With this reduced calorie diet, you simply add water and heat.

NutriSystem® offers different programs for men, women, Type II diabetics, and vegetarians. Although the exact ingredients are not posted, a list of possible meal items can be found at the official website.

A 28-Day supply regularly will cost you $326.36 (plus shipping & handling) for any Programs except for the Men's Program. The Men's Program is slightly (about $30) more expensive. We assume the added cost is because Men eat more, not because they passed on the cost of having Dan Marino as the Spokesman for this program to the consumer.
On their Auto-Delivery system, most Programs cost $293.72 but you do not have to pay shipping & handling. Auto-Delivery of the Men's Program is again slightly more expensive.
Keep in mind, that you will still need to purchase items from the grocery store to prepare the foods.

In a market full of choices, we find that Nutrisystem offers a somewhat effective, although "different" approach to weight management.

We do like that Nutrisystem offers a meal plan, but it requires the preparation and consumption of their prepackaged diet meals. While this can be a time saver, we feel it doesn’t help you change your long-term eating habits. You may not even like the taste of the diet foods.

Nutrisystem’s meals do not address the issue of existing weight you may have. If you want to immediately begin loosing weight, DAY ONE, only capsule based products can help you here. Nutrisystem does not contain any active fat burning ingredients specifically.

In the end, Nutrisystem was not designed for immediate results like modern herbal based supplements. With efffective formulas you do not have to change your lifestyle, or commit to an expensive program.

We appreciate a company who believes in their products so confidently that they give away free trials that you can carry when on the go. Unfortunately NutriSystem® does not offer this type of convenience.
